Feeling powerless after being laid off, Chrissy was seeking an opportunity to achieve professional and financial independence. She started taking classes at Home Depot and networking with contractors. After some hands-on experience, she determined that she would pursue the construction trades as a career path.
Then Chrissy joined Emerging Builders.
While Chrissy was excited about learning the technical skills necessary to become a contractor, more importantly she saw the opportunity to become an entrepreneur. Emerging Builders taught her a variety of trade skills, including carpentry, electrical and beyond - but Chrissy found her niche, tiling.
My experience was personal - not just telling, but showing and coaching.
With ample one-on-one learning experiences in tandem with group learning, Chrissy enjoyed working alongside others in her cohort. She described her Emerging Builders cohort as "family," counting on one another throughout the experience.
I want to create beautiful spaces.
When asked how she would describe her experience with Emerging Builders in one word Chrissy said, "growth." Chrissy graduated from the 10-week series and was struck by how personalized it felt to her. She was ready to give back to others and launch her business.
I now have my own business. My life is pretty great right now.
Since 2019, Renovations by Chrissy has been in business. She is an independent entrepreneur, employing her own crew on a variety of projects, including residential and commercial remodeling. As an entrepreneur, she shares, there are ups and downs, but she feels empowered to take care of herself and others. Chrissy is still in touch with Emerging Builders, supporting in creating a course for apprentices called "The Cost of Being the Boss."
